Fueling the Fort Wayne Community since 1953...
Before MacFood Mart convenience stores, there was McIntosh Energy Co. Russell McIntosh founded McIntosh Energy in 1953 after serving in the Korean War. He came back to Fort Wayne and with $500 of borrowed money, he bought a truck and tank for delivery of home heating oil to the rapidly expanding neighborhoods. With this in mind, the “Be Sure With Pure” slogan assured customers they were receiving quality product.
MacFood Mart Convenience Stores
In 1965, McIntosh Energy expanded its fuel service offerings with the opening of the first MacFood Mart convenience store location in northern Allen county. McIntosh Energy acquired a small remote location in northern Allen County in the early sixties as their first location for the sale of fuel and groceries.
McIntosh Energy and its subsidiary, MacFood Mart are still owned and operated by the McIntosh Energy family. Additionally, the original Royville location still exists today. It was torn down and rebuilt in 1998 with all of the features of a modern convenience store. Today, the company owns and operates four strategically placed convenience stores in and around Fort Wayne.
MacFood Mart’s mission is to refresh, refuel, and reward customers every visit by providing quality refueling, and convenient food options in a warm and welcoming environment for customers, employees, and the community.
